Continuing your Legal Education

I think we, as Americans, appreciate that our system of law is the principal means of making our government work, of protecting it from within and of discharging the governmental functions of helping us live together in comparative peace.  All of you certainly have some knowledge of the rights guaranteed to you by the Constitutions of the United States and of the State of Indiana and the obligations which attend those rights.  You also have some knowledge of rules or agreements which have been legislated (made laws) by our federal, state, or local governments.  And you have some knowledge about our machinery (courts, judges, lawyers, and juries) to enforce or assist in enforcing the laws.  The following will continue your legal education of a citizen with a discussion of the types of rights and obligations, a lawyer’s job, the work of courts and due process of law.
